SEPUP MODULES
Many SEPUP teachers
tell us they started with a module, either as a new or replacement unit. Each module is a self-contained instructional
unit - just open the box to introduce issue-oriented science to your students, who will appreciate the use of relevant
themes and the hands-on approach to make science more interesting. As a teacher, you will appreciate the complete,
easy-to-use package that reduces prep time and allows you to teach more effectively. SEPUP modules are research-based
and tested by hundreds of teachers across the country prior to publication.
All SEPUP Modules include:
- Story lines that focus on real issues and the potential impact those issues have on our society
- Science content and activities, with explicit links to the National Science Education Standards
- An assessment package, based on the highly acclaimed complete SEPUP system
Modules include a Teachers Guide and enough equipment and supplies for use with up to 160 students.
There are currently 12 SEPUP Modules:
SEPUP can be used in almost any classroom. Traditional lab furniture and equipment are not needed. Chemicals
are generally provided as dilute solutions in drop-controlled bottles.
All SEPUP products incorporate our color-coded labeling system. This user-friendly labeling system:
- Reduces the amount of time it takes to distribute and collect materials
- Eliminates confusion by clearly differentiating similar solutions, especially those with different concentrations
(i.e. 1.0M HCL vs. 1M HCL)
- Separates and clearly identifies individual components for safe storage
No glassware or open flames are used; making this a safe program to use - whether your students are in grade
7 or 12. Complete MSDS (material safety data sheets) are included.
More than 100,000 SEPUP modules have been sold since 1990, making it one of the most successful of the National
Science Foundation’s funded projects.
